L. Women in Ministry
Friends recognize that the Holy Spirit will distribute spiritual gifts as He wills in the Church. Therefore, men and may receive any and all gifts the Spirit gives. Friends believe it is the role of the Church to affirm and confirm giftedness and to free men and women to serve as they are called, according to their giftedness. God’s ordination of women for public ministry has been recognized and recorded among Friends since the 1600s. Women serve as pastors, missionaries, evangelists, teachers, speakers, and in various roles of leadership and responsibility.
